I have some BCI-6 cartridges that I have refilled 40-50 times, I completely flush the cartidges after every 15 refills. The sponges will wear out before the plastic does.
The output port on the cartridges will never wear out, there is no reason for it to do so. Thus between the HobbiColors, Image Specialists and OCP BCI-6 and CLI-8 compatible ink sets there was no indication of one in flowing more ink than the other. With cutom printer profiling each print in within 98% of each other for colors and contrast, the brightness is the same. I have evaluated 6 different ink sets over the last 2 years and I have copies of each test print printed with each ink set in a album. If ink was flowing in larger quantities due to different ink brans the print would be so dark it would be very noticeable. The mechanism is heating the ink with resistors at each nozzle in the print head. Well then find out if the OP is using quality inks! Many of us have no issues refilling cartridges when done properly and using quality inks. Although that may have more to do with the amount of time the solvents in the ink are contact with the plastics than with how much ink is passing through. There's a nozzle in the cartridge that feeds the print head. That cartridges have NO NOZZLES to wear out. There are just so many ways to go wrong it’s just not worth it (as the OP has found out.the hard way.) I’ll see if I can find that document again.Īlso, the nozzles in the cartridges will wear out. Please explain technically as to how different brand inks would be consumed at different rates when printing the same photo printout? It looks like almost all of the ink is used during the startup and shutdown of the printer and "preparing" for printing. Maybe 20 A4 and 5 4"圆" photos in two weeks. I have to refill the cartridges about every two weeks and I really don't print that much.

Yesterday, my yellow and photoblack cartridges were about 1/5th full and after I printed a nozzle check pattern - which took over 5 minutes preparing - yellow and photoblack were both empty. After I turn on the printer it takes several minutes to start up and it looks like it is just purging ink. After the original cartridges ran out, I refilled them with ink from. It has good picture quality and good scans but the ink consumption is dramatic. Hi everybody, I have a Canon MP640 printer.
